Okay, sick of having to wait 10 minutes for Vista to boot… and a horrendous amount of time for sites to load in tabs for my Entrecard speed dropping, I finally found a utility to optimize my laptop. Now loading multiple sites in tabs in Firefox is actually not brain racking, hair pulling-out slow!
Glary Utilities seems like the best so far, and it’s free. Free is good. I am poor, paying for all my dog things. So I need free computer stuff.
My windows task manager has probably a quarter of the processes running anymore. Yay! Many were worthless HP auto-run tasks that were unnecessary. I also got rid of some other things that I hope don’t affect my laptop in a bad way. LOL.
I’ll need to set this up for my sister, too. Hey sis.. if you read this, bring your laptop to Easter and we’ll get you hooked up too. My laptop still doesn’t boot super speedy, but it’s much better than it was!
And I didn’t even need to get into the blood and guts of the laptop or use disposable gloves to do it!

I regularly check giveawayoftheday and I guess they offered a pro version of Glary Utilities at one point, which I proceeded to install and furthermore use to “optimize” my system.
Not to scare you, but that was the one time I have ever, since my first computer in 1998, had to use the “roll back” feature of windows. heh Just be careful.

Cool little collection of utilities, I was unaware of it! I usually nerd it up a bit though and try to accomplish a lot of the speed tweaks/optimizations manually. Vista is a resource hog though!

Hi Somebodyunfamous… ooo yeah, that is scary.
I hope that I don’t turn off anything that’s necessary!
Hi jakes thanks!
Hey Chris! See you tomorrow.
Since you mentioned Firefox… Are you using Firefox 3 (beta 4)? I’ve found that it has some huge increases on the load times of blogs, mostly because the new script engine does a much better job at loading widgets and other things quickly.
It won’t make Vista faster, but it makes dropping and actually reading blogs much more of a pleasure!

Chris… I wasn’t using 3 (beta 4) but went and checked it out. i downloaded it and it looks nice. My plugins don’t work with it yet, though. But I’m going to see what the speed is like. Thanks for the tip!
